"Hi Shan & Graham
I thought you might like to know that I have backed Apollo and he was an absolute dream. I had planned to back him over his third birthday in November, but he was starting to get into mischief due to boredom, so I decided to give him something to think about.
Three weeks ago I tacked him up, put my foot in the stirrup and leaned across him. No response, other than a curious sniff of my boot. So I got off and did it again, several times. Still no response. So this time I flung my leg over and still he didn't respond......other than a curious sniff of my boot.
A week later we were at the pony club grounds walking around and exploring all of the scary jumps, poles and fillers. Apollo decided he wanted to do some trotting, so off we went.
Last weekend we were back at the club doing a little bit of structured walking, halting and trotting, then went for his first trail ride, and solo to boot. He was amazing.
I always new he would be easy to start under saddle but I was surprised at just how easy he was. I have spent countless hours dressing him up over the years and preparing him for that moment, so I'm sure that has had a big impact. However, his nature and level headed approach to everything (which he gets from King's Gold) played a big part.
I can't thank you enough for the fantastic Irish Sport Horses you keep producing. I am very luck to be the proud owner of two of your Shiprock babies and I can't wait to get Zeus started toward the end of next year.
Keep up the good work!"

Congratulations Dawn! Plenty of fun times ahead for you and Apollo (and Zeus next year).
We always love to hear how our Shiprock babies are doing. So feel free to send us an update anytime.
